[Town Development Month Special Feature 2021] Sumitomo Forestry's Forest Garden Hadano, Harmonious Townscape Formation through Planting
Forest Garden Hadano, a detached housing subdivision completed by Sumitomo Forestry in April 2016, is Sumitomo Forestry's expertise in residential greening. It is a town rich in nature developed jointly with Greening. Based on the keywords of "water, wind, light, and greenery," the city is being developed in consideration of exterior design, planting, ventilation, etc., in order to enhance the sense of unity with the park.
A total of 49 housing units (28 ready-built units, 21 units with building conditions) arranged to surround Yusui Park are greened according to the guidelines for preserving the landscape. For example, one symbolic tree over 3 to 4 meters, 5 or more trees of about 2 meters, 10 or more shrubs of 30 to 40 centimeters, and flowering trees as appropriate. The tree species is selected from the biodiversity-friendly plants that the company has named "Harmonic Plants", and it also considers the maintenance and conservation of the local ecosystem.
For young homebuyers who have never taken care of garden trees, Sumitomo Forestry Landscaping held pruning workshops and Christmas wreath-making classes to familiarize them with planting. About 30 residents gathered at the workshop, which seems to have served as an opportunity to create a community within the subdivision.
In recognition of these efforts, in March 2018, we acquired the first certification in the detached housing complex / district section of the ABINC certification (ABINC certification).
About five years have passed since the opening of the town, and the subdivisions where the plants of each dwelling unit have grown form a unique townscape that is in harmony with the Yusui Park.
