Manage your money with artificial intelligence! Instigator of "Smartphone x Finance" [2] - Conversation: Yosuke Tsuji, President of Money Forward x Soichiro Tahara
[Tahara] While working at Monex, I will study abroad at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. why is this?
Mr. Yosuke Tsuji, President of Money Forward (at Money Forward's head office in Shiba, Minato-ku, Tokyo)[Tsuji] Monex, Inc. merged with Nikko Beans, Inc. and became Monex Beans, Inc. once. However, since the name is too long, we changed the name to Monex, Inc. by removing Beans. At that time, it was decided that instead of losing the name, the soul would be preserved, and a study abroad program called the Beans Scholarship was established within the company. With the first issue, I was allowed to go to Wharton School. The Wharton School is not well known in Japan, but it is the oldest business school in the United States that has produced Mr. Yotaro Kobayashi of Xerox and Mr. Masanori Mochida of Goldman Sachs.
[Tahara] This was your second time studying abroad. How was it?
[Tsuji] I wanted to study abroad, but it might have been the hardest two years of my life. English was the hardest part. I can manage everyday conversations, but when it comes to discussions in class, I can't say anything I want to say. If you can't participate in discussions, you can't contribute to the team, and you won't be recognized for your existence. English is just a tool, but I cried every day because I felt so pity for not being able to use that tool.
[Tahara] But Mr. Tsuji was chosen as the class representative. What does this mean?
[Tsuji] It's still a mystery (laughs). If I dare to look for a reason, I think it's because Americans support people who take on challenges. My English wasn't very good, but once I got used to it, I started to express my opinions and try things I couldn't do. It was all self-destruction, but maybe he appreciated that kind of place. America is generous.
