In Tokyo, we announced the basic strategy of TOKYO DATA Highway in August 2019, using all kinds of communication networks that started 5G, and working on the realization of "TOKYO, a connected city."

The capital and mobile phone operators are working together to support 5G spread, but we do not know where to actually use it in the city.
Therefore, in the "Nishi -Shinjuku" area, which is the priority maintenance area, we perform 5G radio wave measurements every month to confirm how far it is expanding.
Nevertheless, it is not measured using specialized equipment, but in a simple way using commercially available smartphones and apps.The measurement itself is not so difficult.You can collect data by installing a radio measurement tool app on your smartphone (Android device) and starting log collection with the app.
I would like to explain the procedure a little more about such radio wave measurements.
Decide the route and prepare the terminal!
Radio measurements are roughly divided into three processes.
First of all, "prepare", the first thing to do is the setting of the measurement route.
If there is already a fixed area, it is OK if the area inside the area is the measurement range.If there is no specific area, for example, if it is vague, such as the range where radio waves are likely to reach, for example, it depends on the frequency band from the portable base station antenna.It is better to think about the area a little wider than expected.It is common that the radio waves were flying far away when measured, so let's wider it so that it can respond to unexpected flying conditions.
Once the area is determined, decide where to pass in the area and in what order.You can start from anywhere, but considering the settings of the terminal, I think that the point where there is a relatively safe place (a place where you can safely stop in the driving measurement using a car) is Fiveod.
We will create a route with less duplicate in one -stroke writing as much as possible, mainly on major roads.The narrow road between the main roads and the road, and if the gap is too open, it is OK to set it on the route as appropriate.There is no need to make all the roads a route (there is also a precise measurement method to check all roads, but it takes that time).

Now, when the route is decided, prepare the terminal by the day before the measurement.
Currently, there are four mobile phone operators, so it is necessary to prepare four companies to measure compared to four companies.The terminal used for measurement is Android terminal.Prepare Android devices instead of iPhone, as the measurement tools only exist on Android.The Android device sold by each company is used, but the corresponding frequency varies depending on the terminal, so make sure that it corresponds to the frequency you want to measure.
The day before the measurement, let's update the terminal and update to the latest state.There are several measurement tools, but we recommend a tool that can leave logs.
The rest is an application that always generates communication status, such as a video conference application.
The mobile phone has two states, "standby" and "communication", and to confirm the situation of 5G, you have to keep it in "communication".Therefore, you will always need an application (video conference application, etc.) that will always be in communication.

It is finally "measurement".When you arrive near the starting point of the measurement route determined in advance, prepare the terminal.
The first thing to check is that the terminal Wi-Fi is off.If the Wi-Fi is turned on, you may suddenly make a Wi-Fi connection during the measurement and may not be able to measure correctly.
Log acquisition is started with the measurement tool, and a communication status is created with a video conference application.
When the terminal is ready, follow the route and measure.During the measurement, check the status of the terminal from time to time to check if it has not stopped.Especially in the summer, it is easy to cause a problem if the terminal stops suddenly or restarts.
It is recommended that you cut the log once with 1-2 hours as a measurement time.If you measure too much for a long time in a row, the log file may be too large, and it may be difficult to process it when you create a plot later.In addition, it is possible that the data may not be obtained correctly due to the defective of the terminal mentioned above, so it is recommended that you stop acquiring the measurement tool log once during the measurement (when the terminal is restarted in the middle, the log file is restarted.It will not remain, and it will be redoed.)
Something tends to occur during measurement.There are also defects on the terminal, may be mistaken for the measurement route, or the measurement route cannot be passed.In such a case, do not panic and calm down.

After the measurement is completed successfully, the last is "visualization of the results."
First, pull out the acquired data from each terminal to your computer and organize it.
Based on the location information of the acquired data, we will use GIS software and sites to drop the data on the map (for example, the Geographical Institute of Geographical Institute: https: // Maps..GSI.Five.JP/, etc.).
The measurement results are easier to see, such as removing unnecessary parts before and after measurement, or dividing them in 5G or 4G and coloring them.
Location information can be obtained on each terminal, but GPS does not function properly under the roads and underground spaces under the three -dimensional intersection, and location information may not be obtained well.Also, the measurement results may fluctuate depending on the situation and environment at that time, so be sure to consider that there are such fluctuations when looking at the results.
Based on the 5G radio wave situation that has been seen in this way, it is useful for examining, for example, a smart pole installation location, a service that uses 5G, and demonstration experiments.
By the way, 5G can be used in public spaces on the first and second floors of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, so you can experience 5G as soon as possible.
