News EV version Julia also "Eagle F1 Super Sports" Goodyear to be released in Japan
Supplied to EV races, top-of-the-line sports tires
Pure ETCR machines wear Eagle F1 Super Sports. GOODYEAR decals decorate the machine. Pure ETCR will be reborn as an FIA-rated "e-Touring Car World Cup" from this season.
"Pure ETCR" was born as a full EV race following Formula E. It is a championship with a fully electric touring car, and last season Alfa Romeo Giulia ETCR (EV of course), SEAT CUPRA familiar with AUTOCAR, and Hyundai Veloster N participated. This season, the name will be changed to "FIA e-Touring Car World Cup" and will be held in Asia as well. Goodyear supplies tires to all the teams in this series. The brand name is Eagle F1 Super Sport. It will be the highest peak of the company's sports tires, the Eagle series, and will be sold in Japan from March. Goodyear's European division is in charge of development, and has supplied the aforementioned Pure ETCR with a bespoke version designed for high-performance EVs.
Four technologies from dry to wet
Japan Goodyear representative Yujiro Kanehara at the press conference for the "Eagle F1 Super Sports" and the comfort tire "Efficient Grip Performance 2" President and Director of the Product Planning Department Munehiro Kishi.
Eagle F1 Super Sports, which is called "From normal driving to the circuit (Munehiro Kishi, General Manager, Goodyear Product Planning Department, Japan)", has four technical topics. Outer sections on both sides of the tread support dry running. The rigidity of the shoulder part is high, contributing to stability. The center part of the tread corresponds to wet conditions with 3 ribs. A large block is placed on the shoulder on the outside of the tire, which is subject to a large load during cornering. This widens the ground contact area and realizes aggressive cornering. A high-rigidity overlay made of a blend of "aramid" and "nylon material" enhances the performance of high-speed driving. In the high speed range where centrifugal force increases, it suppresses the tread from rising and stabilizes the contact shape in the entire speed range. As a result, it is possible to maintain a wide contact area from low to high speeds, improving steering stability. In addition, the strengthening of the sidewall cannot be overlooked. By rolling up the high-rigidity carcass material to the tread surface and maintaining the profile shape, information from the road surface is directly transmitted and sharp handling is realized. With these technologies, compared to the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5, the record of 1.7% shorter lap time shows the high performance.
