"What is assessment that enhances children's well-being?" IGS Education Forum 2021 to be held online on December 17-18
With the revision of the course of study, it is required to develop various "non-cognitive abilities" such as "zest for living" and "ability to learn". Along with this, learning evaluation will also be conducted from three perspectives ((1) knowledge and skills, (2) ability to think, judge, express, etc., and (3) attitude toward learning independently). However, unlike academic ability, it is difficult to evaluate non-cognitive abilities using conventional knowledge-based tests, and many teachers struggle to evaluate non-cognitive abilities appropriately and fairly.
In addition, due to the corona disaster, there are many schools that have been troubled by the method of regular examinations by taking simultaneous examinations. Many of the conventional methods of measuring academic ability are tests that ask for knowledge, and there is a risk of cheating if you do not take the test at the same time. On the other hand, it was also difficult to avoid the 3 Cs and gather many students in the same classroom. While each school is struggling with the method of regular examinations, there are voices asking again "what is the test for" and "who is the evaluation for?"
"Well-being", which has been attracting attention recently, is mainly talked about in the context of work style reform, but isn't it also indispensable for supporting the multifaceted growth of children? . From conventional evaluations that give grades to evaluations that encourage children's growth, and from evaluations that emphasize academic ability to evaluations that include various non-cognitive abilities such as "zest for living" and "ability to learn". We need to change, including our mindset. In this forum, with the help of experts in various fields, we would like to organize the perspectives, environments, and approaches necessary for "evaluation for children" as well as specific measures over the two days. This forum, where teachers and parents involved in children gather together, aims to review the mindset related to "evaluation" and "evaluation for learners" that leads to the autonomy and happiness of children who have a bright future. We hope that it will be a learning opportunity for the realization of ■ Event overview
