[The one and only watch born from the wreckage of a rocket] Focus on the Swiss watch brand Werenbach
“Werenbach”, a watch brand that was founded in Switzerland in 2013 and has not landed in Japan, is the only watch on earth that uses used space rockets as a material, as far as I know.
In 2010, Patrick Homann, founder and CEO of Walenbach, came up with the daring idea of creating a watch out of a spent space rocket, and immediately traveled to Kazakhstan in search of materials. In 2013, Homann founded the Werenbach company and nine months later produced 25 rocket watches in his atelier in central Zurich. Crowdfunding has gained popularity, and now it seems that the number of regular users is increasing not only in Switzerland but all over the world. The current collection has expanded to a total of 26 types. In order to offer the best possible value, Wallenbach chooses to sell its watches directly to users through its website rather than through traditional sales methods. Customization is available upon request.
In order to create his own ideal rocket watch, Hohman thought he needed real materials, and arrived at the Russian manned space rocket Soyuz. He wanted to recover this material from the rocket's first stage, which would have been dumped in flight and landed in the grasslands of Kazakhstan, in the center of Eurasia. After successfully retrieving the rocket by going to the grasslands himself, the materials were transported to a warehouse in Warenbach in Altdorf, Switzerland, some 5,000 kilometers away. Through many laborious processes, the wreckage of the spacecraft is reborn as a dial. After being cut into squares by a heavy punching machine and polished, the clock hands and markers are applied by hand. In another processing method, there is a method of cutting the raw material into strips, melting them, and pouring them into a mold. It seems that either the rocket booster (engine) or the rocket fairing (nose cone) is used for the dial.
The 41mm case uses a sapphire crystal windshield. Equipped with Soprod's self-winding movement, Newton.
Werenbach B.T.O I Superlative B.T.O Superlative is a model that uses the inside of the rocket engine booster (tank) as the dial. The engine with 4.5 megatons of thrust is milled directly from the inside of the rocket shell and thanks to the organic wear marks of its original color and surface quality (abrasion, color marks), it has a unique A trace has been created. The selling price is US$2257.10 (about 255,000 yen).
