VR is as easy as a Nintendo Switch: Anker Charging Dock for Oculus Quest 2
It has become a part of everyday life.
I tried "Anker Charging Dock for Oculus Quest 2" released by our charging boss Anker. It's a dedicated charging dock for charging Oculus Quest 2.
"Oculus Quest 2" is stand-alone and affordable. It's arguably the easiest VR device to play today, but it needs to be charged. If it's a big thing like VR goggles, it's troublesome to connect it to the cable and charge it, and for some reason the chances of touching it may decrease.
"Anker Charging Dock for Oculus Quest 2" has solved the trouble smartly. If you're a heavy Oculus Quest 2 user, this is a buy.

What is this? : Anker's dedicated charging dock for Oculus Quest 2.
Price: 9,900 yen.
Favorite place: Storage and charging are integrated, making it easier to dive into the VR world.
What I don't like: Not compact. It is important to secure the installation space.

Luxury finish
Since it's a big deal, let's start with the unbox. It fits in a relatively large horizontal box.
open. It feels like putting goggles in the center and controllers on the left and right.
Instructions and bundled items.
The contents are like this. The color of the dock body is slightly whiter than Oculus Quest 2, and it has a bumpy texture. There are non-slip rubber feet on the bottom, so even if you push it, it will not slip off. Anker has an image of being reasonably priced, but it's quite luxurious.
Replace controller with rechargeable
The Oculus Quest 2 charges the headset itself with Type-C, but the controller runs on AA batteries. In order to make this a rechargeable controller, you must first change the battery. The idea here is well made.
The original battery cover has the L sticker on it, and the contacts are visible on the battery cover included in the "Anker Charging Dock for Oculus Quest 2".
Looking at the back side, you can see the contacts on the inside of the included cover.
And this black battery is the included lithium battery for the controller. While replacing the AA battery with this lithium battery ...
By attaching the exposed silver contacts on the side of the battery and the contacts on the back of the battery cover, it is possible to charge from the outside. I see!
Of course, the battery is made by Anker. Conversely, please note that commercially available rechargeable batteries cannot be used.
Ingenuity for the goggles body
Now the controller is ready to charge. The rest is the goggles body, but there is a Type-C terminal (female) on the side of the body. Originally, it is charged by manually connecting the cable, but "Anker Charging Dock for Oculus Quest 2" also automates that.
Connect the small Type-C adapter that was included to the Type-C terminal.
This adapter is a magnet, and when stored in the dock, the charging cable sticks to it with magnetic force. It's like MagSafe.
The charging cable on the dock side can move a few centimeters. This is attracted by the magnet and sticks to the adapter of the main body.
By making it a magnet type, a small potch can be created on the side of the goggles, but I didn't mind the appearance and usability at all. It can be helpful as a clue to distinguish between left and right.
Good appearance, good charging performance!
After setting the controller and goggles, connect the dock to the outlet and you're ready to go. It will be like this when everything is seated. This looks cool ...! I feel the armor and sword-like fit. The contacts are also very sensitive, but the controller doesn't respond unless you have the strap in front of you.
The charging status can be visually confirmed by the LED indicator at the bottom. It's hard to see if it's a GIF, but in reality, the green or orange light blinks and it's easy to understand.
Very easy
It's really comfortable to use, but it's really easy just to charge the cable to the dock. Because it's almost like wireless charging. After playing games such as "VRChat" and "Beat Saber", all you have to do is put your goggles and controller back in the dock. With wired charging, I often forget to charge the battery, and I often run out of battery at startup. If it's a dock, don't worry.
Also, I am grateful for the storage aspect. I don't think it's just Oculus Quest 2, but isn't there a problem with the storage location of VR devices? It's relatively big, and the controller is messy. I think that some people may return it to the box at the time of purchase, but if that happens, the frequency of use will decrease. However, I'm worried about dust if I leave it out ...
With "Anker Charging Dock for Oculus Quest 2", you can fix the storage space and even charge the battery. To prevent dust from leaving it out, you can put a cloth on it.
If there is a weak point, it is a feeling of size. The width is about 40 cm, and it looks like this when compared with the iPhone 12 Pro. It's not compact, and it takes up a lot of space horizontally. Oculus Quest 2 has a variety of third-party storage cases available, and there are plenty of storage cases that are more compact than the dock. If you're a person who wants to use it occasionally rather than leaving it out all the time, I think it's an ant to prioritize storage.
"VR only for 10 minutes" becomes more familiar
Start up, store, charge. "Anker Charging Dock for Oculus Quest 2" solved these troubles smartly. It fits in one place and can be charged, so you can play VR with a light feeling. After all, it's as easy to handle as the Nintendo Switch.
I have Oculus Quest 2, but I can't play it easily. For such a person, if this dock is introduced, the distance to VR may be shortened at once. It's a good price for a charging dock, but do you see it as a cost or as an environment to make VR a part of your daily life?
